Unite for Earth Day 2023

Unite for Earth Day 2023

For our 2023, we were back in-person.  We had over 80 people participate on Monday, April 24, 2023.  Troops, Dens, Crews, & Families came and left the Orono Nature Center and Pavilion between 2:30 and 8:00 pm.  About 50 participants earned the Free Cabot Creamery "Gratitude" patch.  Participants learned about the importance of expressing gratitude in both words and actions.  Our Kindergarten Daisy Girl Scouts worked on their "Make the World a Better Place" petal badge. Our Scouts BSA & Venturers earned conservation hours.

Thank you to our amazing supporters:

Cabot Creamery for providing the Patches, Vermont Sharp Cheddar Cheese Samples, stickers, temporary tattoos, chip clips, pencils, and coupons.

All Seasons Wild Bird Store provided lots of refurbished birdfeeders, birdseed, and information.

Earth Breeze donated full packages of their Laundry Detergent Eco Sheets for everyone.

Rainbow Treecare has a super Arborist who volunteered his time, expertise, and labor for our event.

Orono School Forestry Committee chair who shared his expertise and taught participants to clean up the pollinator garden and divide plants.

Special shout-outs to:

BSA Troop 571 Leaders for their support, efforts, and educating participants while clearing Buckthorn and more.

Brownie Troop 18627 for hosting a Wildflower Seed Bomb making station.

Ambassador Troops 16214 & 15043 for sharing information about Tree Equity, Recycling Plastics, Eco-Friendly Products and Packaging, and Animal Rights.

Mark your calendars for Unite for Earth Day 2024 which will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024.

We invited Orono & Westonka Scouts, Volunteers, Families, & Friends to complete this year's program with us and celebrate the 53rd Anniversary of Earth Day through "Unite for Earth Day 2023".  The theme for the second year was "Invest in Our Planet".

For participants who completed the "Gratitude" program, they were given Patches and goodies.  If you are a local scouting group and want to complete the patch program, we have some extra patches we can give you.   If, you are part of a scouting group outside of our local area, you are welcome to utilize our online resources and then order your patches and treats from Cabot yourself.  If you do submit for your own patches, please send us feedback, so we know others have used this site to go through our program.

Use our website to walk through our Unite for Earth Day 2023 program.  Go through the Education portions of our program to learn about the importance of Gratitude, complete some individual items for the patch, and do some Conservation.
